General Skilled Migrant Program
The eligibility of skilled migrants, who desire to immigrate to Australia, is assessed on a point-based system. The applicants need to satisfy the following threshold requirements:

  • Submit an expression of interest (EOI).

  • Have an occupation that is on the relevant skilled occupation list.

  • Be under 45 years of age at the time of invitation.

  • Meet the threshold English language requirement of competent English.

  • Have a suitable skills assessment for that occupation.

  • Be able to score at least 65 on the points test.

Effective July 1, 2018, new points system has been rolled out the below-mentioned Skilled Migration Visas. The Qualifying Score is now 65 points for Skilled Subclasses:
1. Skilled Independent Visa (Subclass 189)
2. Skilled Nominated Visa (Subclass 190)
3. Skilled Regional Sponsored Visa (Subclass 489)
Australia Sub Class 189 Visa (Skilled - Independent Visa)
This visa is for skilled workers who are not sponsored by an employer, a state or territory, or a family member. A visa holder can live and work permanently anywhere in Australia. Eligibility & Requirement for Australia SC-189 Visa: - To be able to lodge a valid application for this visa you need to first submit an Expression of Interest through Skill Select. You can do this in or outside of Australia.

  • Invitation to Apply

  • Be under 45 years of age

  • Nominate an occupation that matches your skills and qualifications and is on the relevant Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL)

  • Skill Assessment

  • Have at least competent English

  • Score at least 65 on the Points Test

  • Fulfill the health and character requirements

Skilled Nominated Visa (Sub Class 190 Visa)
This visa allows skilled workers who are nominated by an Australian state or territory government to live and work in Australia as per permanent residents. Eligibility & Requirements For SC-190 Visa

  • Must have a relevant occupation.

  • Must have a suitable skills assessment for the occupation.

  • Must fulfill the 65 points requirements

  • Must be nominated by a state or territory government agency.

  • Must be younger than 45 years of age at the time of invitation.

  • Must qualify a language proficiency test

  • Must be invited by the Australian government to apply.

Skilled Regional Sponsored Visa (Sub Class 489)
This provisional visa is granted for a period of 4 years for individuals who cannot meet the Skilled Independent Visa pass mark. This visa provides a pathway to a permanent visa in Australia. The Skilled Regional Sponsored Visa through the state is a provisional Visa only and applicants under this category must live for 2 years and work full time for at least 12 months in a Specified Regional Area of Australia which is a mandatory condition to further apply for a Permanent Residency. Eligibility & Requirements For Skilled Regional Sponsored Visa

  • Secure 65 points

  • Must be under 45 years

  • The applicant should meet the English language of competence level by submitting the test results before the application is submitted. He/ she should score 7 or more bands in IELTS.

  • Applicant should nominate an occupation on the Short term Skilled

  • Occupation List (STSOL) or Medium and Long term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL).

  • Skill Assessment

  • Sufficient maintenance funds to obtain sponsorship from state territory if applying for state /territory nominated regional visa.

  • The applicant has to meet all the health and character requirements.


A business visa offers a number of advantages including a Work permit visa of up to 4 years and the applicant’s immediate family members listed on the application to live, work, and study in Australia. There are a number of visa options for new business and investors:

  • Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional) (subclass 188) visa

  • Business Talent (Permanent) (subclass 132) visa

Provisional Visa (Subclass 188) includes four streams:
Business Innovation stream: for people with business skills who want to establish and develop a new or existing business in Australia.
Investor stream: for people who want to make a designated investment of at least AUD1.5 million in an Australian state or territory and maintain business and investment activity in Australia.
Significant Investor stream: for people who are willing to invest at least AUD5 million into complying significant investments in Australia and maintain business and investment in Australia.
Premium Investor stream: for people who are willing to invest at least AUD15 million into complying premium investments in Australia and maintain business and investment in Australia.
Holding this visa is the first stage before becoming eligible to qualify for a Business Innovation and Investment (Permanent) visa (subclass 888).
Business Talent (Permanent) (subclass 132) visa
There are two streams under visa subclass 132:
1. Significant business history stream
2. Venture capital entrepreneur stream
Existing business and investor visa holders may be eligible to apply for one of the following visas:

  • Business Innovation and Investment (Permanent) (subclass 888) visa

  • Business Owner (Residence) (subclass 892) visa

  • Investor (Residence) (subclass 893) visa


There are a number of travel-visa available for visiting Australia:

  • Australian Short Travel Visa

  • Australian ETA visa

  • E- Visitor

  • ETA Business Visitor

To be eligible for a tourist visa, the applicant must satisfy the following conditions:

  • Genuine intention to visit

  • Must satisfy health and character requirements

  • Sufficient funds to support their travel.

  • Applicants whilst outside the country must be outside the country at the time of the grant.

  • Applicants who are in Australia (applying for a visa extension) must be inside the country at the time of grant.

When applying for a student visa, the following requirements are to be met-

  • Financial requirements – evidence of sufficient funds to cover tuition, travel, and living expenses.

  • English proficiency – It is mandatory to have a good IELTS/TOEFL score - an overall score of 6.0 band with no band less than 5.5 for Bachelor’s degree and an overall score of 6.5 bands with no band less than 6.0 for a Master’s degree.

  • Health requirements and Character requirements- All students migrating to Australia on Student Visa have to complete necessary medical checkups and criminal record clearance.

There are a number of advantages to your Australian Student Visa.

  • Study – Take up tertiary studies in the country

  • Work – You can work for 40 hours per fortnight during regular semester classes and work full time during vacations.

  • Post Study Work – Australia allows students 31 years old and above to legally work and apply for permanent residency.

  • Visitor – While your study in Australia, your close family members as dependents can also stay with you.

  • The spouse can also accompany (spouse must be graduated)
